I find inspiration for my work in many places. I may start with a thought or emotion, or perhaps a memory, or something I hear in passing that touches or amuses me. With this in mind I draw and paint with thin black ink lines and watercolour paints, creating pictures that I will transfer onto porcelain. Sometimes a physical object might suggest the line or a shape. Then I work with ink and watercolour to abstract the original image, making the object only vaguely recognizable. I use porcelain as an illustrator or painter would use a page or canvas. I make and draw and paint because it is how I best express the way that things work in my mind. It is what inspires and excites me as well as calms and centres me. It is how I express myself.
